Claire Lipschultz, Eileen Jacobowitz, Annie Hohn, and Barbara Baran meet with Congresswoman Matsui’s Legislative Director in Washington, D.C. on May 20, 2025.

NCJW Sacarmento Section was well represented at last month’s NCJW Washington Institute in Washington, D.C. Immediate Past President, Eileen Jacobowitz, Board Members and State Policy Advocates, Barbara Baran and Claire Lipschultz, plus recent Leadership Program graduate, Annie Hohn, spent 2 ½ days hearing from inspiring national advocates and leaders, learning about NCJW priority legislative issues, connecting with NCJW members from across the country, and lobbying our California legislators. The Sacramento contingent met with Congresswoman Doris Matsui’s Legislative Director, Congressman Ami Bera and his staff, and Senator Adam Schiff’s Legislative Director. The group thanked them for their support for our legislative priorities including addressing black maternal health inequities, protecting SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and Medicaid, continuing the Child Tax Credit, and passing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. In addition, our advocates offered NCJW Sacramento’s support of legislative efforts to advance the needs of women, children, and families through our membership and other channels.
