NCJW Sacramento volunteers at Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services

A group of NCJW Sacramento members met at the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services (SFBFS) warehouse on May 28th for an afternoon packing party. One of the distributions SFBFS organizes each month are boxes of staples given to seniors. Other agencies help with distribution, too, including Paratransit, which drops off much needed food to homebound people with disabilities. Our group packed 241 boxes filled with milk, cereal, peaches, beans, peaches, salmon, mixed vegetables, pasta and tomatoes. This program is funded by the federal government. We all visited with each other while packing, and left knowing more about each other. If there’s enough interest, we may do it again later in the year.
