NCJW Opening Meeting: Making Good Trouble Together Makes Us Stronger
This year’s Opening Meeting on September 25th, featured opportunities to act on the issues of the day: immigration, women’s reproductive health, housing and homelessness and the needs of our local communities. We also collected over $650 for teachers and students at our adopted school, Leataata Floyd Elementary.
We were energized and encouraged by two elected officials who joined us, Assemblywoman Maggy Krell and Sacramento City Councilmember Phil Pluckebaum. While noting the good work NCJW has done in the past, they asked us to continue our fight for women’s equality under the law and justice for all. In dark times, citizen’s groups are essential to making more people aware of solutions in need of public support. When we join together, we gather courage to persist against forces seeking to tear down our democracy.
