Members Complete Two Mitzvahs and Share Sisterhood at the Opening Meeting
On October 22nd, over 40 NCJW Sacramento members gathered for our Opening Meeting at the McKinley Village clubhouse.
The event featured the usual kibitzing and noshing, as well as the earnest need for connection that many of us have been feeling in light of the strife of the Middle East. President Eileen Jacobowitz oversaw the installation of our three new board members, Lexi Gutierrez, Barbara Milgram, and Ellen Savage. We learned about upcoming NCJW activities and about abortion access including who seeks them and efforts to expand abortion access across the country. And then we got to work! voters
We assembled 100 abortion aftercare kits and took home postcards to send to Ohio voters to get out the vote on a hugely important referendum relating to provision of abortion services.
Thank you to the Opening Meeting planning committee – Laurel Hollis, Eileen Jacobowitz, Ellen Savage, June Wiaz, and Sheila Wolfe and to all of the members who helped with refreshments, set-up and clean-up. It was a great opening for an impactful and meaningful year ahead!
