A Celebration for Women’s Empowerment
NCJW members, many community members, volunteers, staff and graduates of Women’s Empowerment, attended the Women’s Empowerment’s (WE) 24th Annual Gala on Friday, September 19th at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel, in Sacramento. Mayor Kevin McCarty, former mayor Darrell Steinberg and many other community leaders/organizations participated in the event to honor and raise funds for the work of WE – a Sacramento nonprofit organization that provides women who have experienced homelessness with the skills and confidence necessary to secure a job, create a healthy lifestyle and regain a home for themselves and their children.
NCJW Sacramento supports several WE programs and services including the Bridge to Success mini grants, June Graduation reception, the ongoing Food & Supplies Closet and Garden at Trellis Garden Housing program and special collections for food and other needed supplies throughout the year. The WE graduate speaker on this video specifically thanked the National Council of Jewish Women in her speech at the gala from the podium! Here she is prior to the Gala, with CBS Anchor Woman and Gala MC, Marli Ginter. Click here to view the video.
