Snack and Beverage Mitzvah in a Minute Collection a Tremendous Success

The Snack and Beverage Miztvah in a Minute (MIM) collection was a tremendous success that surpassed our original goals. Thanks to the generosity of the community, we gathered hundreds of dollars worth of snacks and beverages in addition to over $600 in cash, checks and online donations.
These contributions will directly aid Women’s Empowerment (WE) by providing needed nutritional items for the women and children served by WE. We will also share a portion of the collection with Trellis Gardens, a low-income housing project. We will draw on the financial donations to help sustain the NCJW-sponsored Food and Hygiene Closets at Trellis Gardens.
As a meaningful bonus, we will be able to provide $115 in cash to the WE staff to address the urgent need for feminine hygiene products, items which the women can’t purchase with their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funds.
This was an opportunity to stretch both our dollars and our good deeds to make a significant impact on the quality of life of women and children at risk of falling into despair and homelessness.
