On July 16, NCJW provided salad dinners to all of the families living at Trellis Gardens in Arden Arcade. Trellis Gardens is a group of small homes owned by the city of Sacramento and managed by Women’s Empowerment (WE). All of the residents are graduates of the WE program and are employed, many of them as the result of completing job training offered by WE upon completion of their course. Each family received a new salad bowl and the ingredients for a nutritious meal, including proteins, all of the toppings, a bottle of salad dressing and dinner rolls. Ice cream sandwiches for dessert were celebrated by the kids.

This all came together through the efforts of NCJW member and Trellis Gardens Food Closet manager, Robin Gillett. Women often asked for salads for their families and NCJW members came through. Thanks to all who donated food and participated in the distribution: Eileen Jacobowitz, Sandy Kaufman, Shirley Rosenbloom, Robin Gillett, Leslie Holzman, Diane VanMaren, Naomi Rice, Susan Solarz, Becky Goad and Laurel Hollis.
