Making Our Voices Heard
NCJW Sacramento made their voices heard, loud and clear, during NCJW CA Lobby Day on May 7 in Sacramento. Seventeen trained Section members advocated for legislation to end human trafficking, increase child care availability and provider payments, study impacts of guaranteed income programs, secure availability of medication abortions and protect school children and teachers from ICE raids near and on school property.
Section members visited their Senators and Assemblymembers and staff to explain our positions based on our Jewish values: dignity for every human being, justice and tikkun olam. The conversations were deep and thoughtful and we were able to provide essential information and perspective.
Many of the Section members were newbies but well prepared and all did a fantastic job. It was an empowering experience which made a difference. We want to acknowledge all those who took part: Brinn Yterdal, Susan Davini, Trudi Garner, Ellen Savage, Laura Rabishaw, Deborah Meltzer, Barbara Beeman, Barbara Baran, Laurel Hollis, Marci Davis, Cherie Dimmerling, Barbara Milgram, Claire Lipschultz, Jessica Heskin, Eileen Jacobowitz and Carol Goodman.
The NCJW Sacramento delegation was joined by section delegations from San Francisco, Los Angeles, East Bay and Greater Long Beach/West Orange County.
There will be opportunities to continue supporting the bills throughout the legislative session via emails, petition signing and phone calls. Please join the Sacramento Rapid Response Team to receive action alerts so you can be part of making change happen. Click HERE to join.
