Do you panic when you forget the name of the new neighbor you just met or the restaurant you want to recommend to a friend? On Sunday, April 6, Dr. Barbara Gillogly assured us that this is a normal part of aging. As we grow older, our recall of nouns slows down. If we stay calm, that name will return to us. Unfortunately, many of us will experience more serious cognitive decline.

Trudy Mazer, R.N., Dr. Barbara Gillogly Ph.D., and Dr. Jan Rogers, M.D. filled the session with facts and stories about dementia. In this first of a three-part series on dementia, we learned about symptoms, assessments, hearing loss and dementia, as well as medications. We also heard about simple strategies for relating to those with dementia.

If you registered for the session, you’ll receive a link to a recording of the event, which can be shared with family and friends.

Click here to register now for the second part of the series on May 4, “Strategies for Caring for People With Dementia” which will focus on more strategies taking care of loved ones with cognitive diseases.
