Lobby Day 2018
April 25 - April 26
SPECIAL ALERT: Record number of attendees are coming to Lobby Day 2018. Registration is now closed.
Huffington Post recently named Senator Jackson one of eleven women around the country "blazing new trails" in American politics. Her legislation gave us the strongest equal pay law in the nation, advanced gun violence protection, and improved access to early childhood education and child care.
Now she has set her sights on preventing and responding to sexual harassment and violence. Her bill is one of the top priorities for our Lobby Day 2018.
LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!
YOU can help make California just and compassionate with your passion and your voice. As childhood poverty deepens, sexual violence and harassment continue, the criminal justice system disproportionately harms the poor, and human trafficking flourishes, NCJW CA Lobby Day advocacy will focus on legislation addressing these issues. Last year, our largest Lobby Day ever, the NCJW Sacramento Section had a terrific turnout of over 25 members who learned and engaged. There were another 50 people from Sections around the state who joined them.
To help pass our priority legislation, NCJW CA is again partnering with A Stronger California coalition (a broad coalition of women's groups, social justice organizations and others), an interfaith coalition initiated a few years ago by NCJW CA, and other progressive groups.
In an exciting one and one-half day program you will:
• learn the fundamentals of lobbying and the legislative/budget process
• gain a deeper understanding of the priority bills and issues and why they are so critical
• meet with your representatives to advocate for NCJW CA positions
• hear from legislators, high level legislative staff and leading social justice advocates
• network with other NCJW CA members and learn about innovate Section strategies.
