Founder’s Day Celebration
NCJW Sacramento Section’s Unsung Heroines Tribute
Casa Gardens which benefits Sacramento Children's Home
2760 Sutterville Road, Sacramento
Founder’s Day is our celebration of NCJW’s founding by Hannah G. Solomon in 1893. At this year’s Founder’s Day, our major fundraiser, we paid honor to our own Unsung Heroines — our members who work behind the scenes.
Congratulations to Sharon Cohen, Bonnie Penix and Dale Shaw
Sharon Cohen currently chairs the Bridge to Success scholarship committee, and is now responsible for the sale of our Fair Trade chocolate. Sharon, for years, has capably served on many committees and projects where she quietly and efficiently ensures that all goes well.
Bonnie Penix worked diligently to bring the elder abuse poster to fruition. She is also a longtime Sister Nora’s participant. Bonnie donated a tent for our outdoor tabling where she staffs events regularly. She also gave a welcomed storage cabinet to the section. When asked to help, her usual answer is “Yes.”
Dale Shaw has coordinated the section’s mailings for years —bulletins, flyers, invitations and other membership-wide mailings. She continues to serve on the program committee, having co-chaired it for several years. Her can-do approach to handling logistics has led to many successful events.
